G.C. Puffs Reviews a Don Jose Correa Montes de Maria

Some say there is nothing like a memory, at least that's what older people say, so on a beautiful fall day recently I drove to a town I spent my youth in. back then it was busy with people going about their business, shopping and working. Today, its mostly boarded up, with only two stores left open. I pulled into an empty parking lot and as I stepped out of my truck, I took a Don Jose Corea Montes de Maria cigar out the humi. A very nice looking dark brown stick with a toothy feel to the leaf. Sniffing the cigar, it gave hints of spice and moist earth. Torching my cigar, I started to walk down the empty sidewalk of this town. As I walked, the first bursts of flavor I was receiving was a blast of pepper mixed with coffee and sweet grass, with plenty of smoke to enjoy. I stopped momentarily in front of a drug store with a closed sign hung on the door for a long time as it was yellowed. Looking through the window, I could see the tables along one side where at one time my friends and I would come after school and sit drinking cokes and shakes, wolfing down burgers and flirting with girls. Continuing to walk, the cigar was changing, the pepper blast had faded and now was being replaced by an abundant flavor of black coffee, dark roasted nuts and the spice still present. Very nice, with a smooth texture to the smoke. Moving on down the sidewalk, I came to the old gas station where I bought my first pack of smokes. I sat for a while on the same bench where my best friend who worked there gave his girl a ring. Sitting there, I was at the mid point of my cigar, now giving very strong black coffee, roasted nuts and leather with just a hint of dry cocoa in the mix. I walked slowly back to my truck, taking time to finish this nice smoke. Opening the door to the truck, the final part of the cigar delivers once again a burst of pepper with the base flavors remaining, giving it a pleasing finish. Looking around, I drove back home, memories in place. Don Jose Correa Monted de Maria is a good maduro, and packs a stout amount of flavor. Do yourself a favor and smoke after a good meal, sit back and enjoy the cigar.
